    Writers' Community Of Durham Region

Opportunities to Grow, Learn and Connect.

WCDR has been offering events and ways to connect for thirty years. Bringing people together to discuss and learn the craft of writing helps us to grow this amazing community.

We offer opportunities to meet industry professionals, published authors and aspiring writers in a collaborative setting. You can hear from those who are rooted in the business of taking words on a page to a novel on the shelf and every step in between.

Writing can be a very solo endeavour, but it doesn’t have to be. Join us and connect with others that understand your passion. We want to help you succeed.

    Dedicated to the
    craft of writing

The Writers’ Community of Durham Region, affectionately called the WCDR, is a network of writers from all genres and all levels of writing, from creative to technical to business and journalistic writing, supporting each other through in-person meetings and a strong online community.

The WCDR proudly stands behind all Canadian Authors & Writers; Canadian Literary Agents & Publishers; and Canadian Booksellers, all of whom comprise our vibrant Canadian Literary Community, which itself is a vital component of our thriving Canadian Arts Community.

Though we began as an organization centred around Durham Region, the municipality located in the eastern Greater Toronto Area, our membership extends across the province of Ontario and the entire country of Canada. The WCDR welcomes all writing voices dedicated to the improvement of writing craft. The world needs your voice and the WCDR will give you the tools and confidence to share your creations outside of your desk drawer and hard drive
