Jessica is excited to chat with WCDR members again—it’s been 10 years since she first had the pleasure of speaking at the WCDR monthly breakfast meeting! She is looking forward to speaking about her love of short stories, her writing path and process, and her publishing experience. She will also share tips and advice on various aspects of the writing life that she has picked up along the way, conduct a quick writing exercise, and will end her talk with a Q&A session.
Jessica Westhead grew up in Whitby and now lives in Toronto, where she
teaches creative writing at the Chang School of Continuing Education at Ryerson
University. She is the author of the novel Pulpy & Midge and the critically
acclaimed short story collections Things Not to Do and And Also Sharks, which
was a Globe and Mail Top 100 Book, a Kobo Best eBook of the Year and a finalist
for the Danuta Gleed Literary Award. Her latest novel, Worry, was a CBC Books
Best Book of the Year and was longlisted for CBC Canada Reads. She is currently
working on her third collection of short fiction. Visit Jessica online at:
