Talking Craft with Kenneth Oppel
(Online event through Zoom)
Kenneth Oppel is the internationally bestselling, award-winning author of thirty-six books for children and young adults. His books feature memorable characters, page-turner plots and intricate, well-researched worlds. On May 3, join the WCYR and the WCDR from the comfort of your own home for your chance to learn from one of Canada’s most celebrated authors—someone who has had a lifelong love affair with the written word. Whether you write for kids, for adults, or for your own joy, this online workshop will help you with some of the most essential aspects of writing craft: character, plot and research. Bring your questions! The hour-long craft workshop will be followed by a half-hour q&a session.
Bio: Kenneth Oppel is the bestselling author of numerous books, including Airborn, which won the Governor General’s Award for children’s literature and a Michael L Printz Honor Award, and the Silverwing trilogy, which has sold over a million copies worldwide. Some of his other books include The Boundless, Every Hidden Thing, and Inkling. The Nest and Half Brother both won the Canadian Library Association’s Book of the Year for Children Award. His latest novels are the Bloom trilogy, and Ghostlight. Visit him online at www.kennethoppel.ca or twitter @kennethoppel.
